What is homeopathy?

Anna's explanation of homeopathy and how it works,  featured on

Homeopathy is a system of natural healing that involves the use of affordable medicines made from mineral, plant and animal substances that are highly diluted using a special manufacturing process. For this reason, homeopathic remedies are generally safer than conventional drugs. Homeopathic care is holistic, so a single remedy, chosen by your practitioner from among 3,000, will address all of your chronic health concerns together by stimulating your body’s own self-healing mechanism. In this way, homeopathy treats the individual and not the disease.

Homeopathy originated in Germany over 200 years ago and is now the fastest growing form of integrative health care in the world. In the US, millions of people use homeopathic remedies and there are 2,000 practicing homeopaths; in Germany, 77% of physicians use homeopathic medicines; homeopathy has been used by the British Royal Family since the 1830's; and India alone has over 200,000 homeopathic practitioners.

Homeopathic care for chronic conditions involves an extensive initial consultation during which health goals are set, followed by prescription of a remedy and a series of follow-ups until these goals have been attained. The ultimate aim of homeopathic care is that you will no longer be dependent on any medicines. Homeopathic remedies can also be used for acute conditions (such as colds, diarrhea and flu), injuries and burns, and recovery from surgery and trauma, for which they work quickly and effectively.
